We absolutely loved our stay at Solider Settler, Olivia was so warm and for coming, taking us on a tour of the farm and sharing her and Nathan’s passion with us. The house is beautifully renovated with everything you need. We can’t wait to come back and stay in late spring.

We loved Olivia’s and Nathan’s place! Our highlights were the gorgeous vegetables from her veggie patch, a tour of their farm, the wood fired heater and the AMAZING water. Best water we ever drank!!!

The house is located pretty much in the middle of nowhere and there are no shops close by. It paid off that we brought all of our food and drinks with us. Olivia was an amazing host who provided us with some gorgeous fresh veggies, eggs and lots of kitchen appliances from her own kitchen (unfortunately it was raining heaps while we were there so we entertained ourselves cooking a lot).

Soldier settler provides a perfect place to get away from the pressures of life. This beautifully appointed and well equipped house will fulfill everyone’s desires. We enjoyed a wine and cheese on the deck overlooking the glorious farm land; taking the time to reflect on our lives. Olivia had prepared the fire fit outdoors for a real country experience if you wanted it also. Inside the kitchen was any master chefs dream with everything you could want (including a real coffee machine much to my husbands delight).

The book shelves are filled with a broad selection of literature if you wanted to relax fire side for some reading. Olivia had also provided some tourist information for us as well as some home grown produce which was a lovely touch.

Location wise, this property is quite central for exploring the island. We were able to day trip to the Flinders Chase National Park one day, Vivvone Bay and Coast another. With American River and Stokes bay also achievable destinations. We would highly recommend staying here if you want to escape the hustle and bustle. Great for couples and families like us.

A lovely, well kitted out house in a beautiful setting. Central to the island so remote, but that is surely part of the charm.

We had a fantastic stay here and would love to come again. There are a lot of options on Kangaroo Island, we tossed up staying on the beach with a view but instead chose somewhere more authentic and closer to nature and that is exactly what this was, but with all the trimmings of quality accommodation.

Olivia and her family's hospitality was second to none, the location is perfect for activities on the island (kingscote and most of the beach spots are way more inconvenient for actually seeing the sites), we saw wild koalas, echidna, patted and fed a kangaroo (all on the property), it was amazing with our young children. All while staying in a very well appointed and super comfortable house. Do yourself a favour and book this place if yoi visit kangaroo island instead of the standard kingscote play. You wont be disappointed.

Olivia is a very helpful host, offering lots of ideas for places to go in the area. Communication was excellent. The cottage is very cosy & clean with a lovely log fire. It is a lovely place for a romantic couple getaway or a family holiday (there is a large garden). Would definitely recommend.
